I’ve never been to the Northwest, but it’s definitely in my sights.  One specific place John and I would love to go is Idaho to see the Elk River Basin and the Giant Cedar Grove.  We have a thing for forests and waterfalls.

This is what I had in mind as I designed a cottage for Idaho.  It is one of my favorites.

I imagine cedar siding with white trim, or maybe a colorful trim, I haven’t made up my mind about that yet.  It would depend upon the exact setting.  I think this cozy and welcoming cottage could fit in many different kinds of settings.

The common area is open and airy for family togetherness and organized function, while the Master Suite is tucked away for a comfortable level of privacy.

The Second Floor packs a good punch with a loft that can serve as either a playroom or media space.  Three bedrooms with roomy closets and a compartmentalized bath allow everyone to have their own space.

This design would be on my short list if we ever get around to building our own house!
